Dr. Eric Bishop’s higher education career spans three decades, public and private higher education institutions, and myriad roles, including teaching, student support, fundraising, association leadership, and more than two years as a community college CEO.
As superintendent/president of Ohlone College, Dr. Bishop strategically led through the global pandemic and institutionalized equity-based decision making. The college was recognized as an Aspen Prize Top 150 college, obtained federal designation as an Asian American, Native American, Pacific Islander Serving Institution (AANAPISI), and as an Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI). He also served as associate superintendent for student services and legislative engagement for Chaffey College, as well as a center dean, dean of athletics and physical education, dean of discipline and represented the college as the regional representative for adult education and dual enrollment.
Dr. Bishop has served as a board member for numerous regional, and local educational and community organizations, including the California Community College Chief Student Services Officers Association, Abode Community Housing, Alameda County Workforce Development Board, and serves as board chair for Bethany Theological Seminary in Richmond, Indiana.
Dr. Bishop holds an Ed.D. in organizational leadership, master’s in communications and bachelor’s in journalism from the University of La Verne. Dr. Bishop is a graduate of the League of Innovation’s Executive Leadership Institute, an Aspen Presidential Fellow, and currently is as senior adjunct lecturer at San Diego State University.
